A Quick Overview of Student Housing Quote from the SU Abroad website: Students are housed in shared rooms in furnished flats arranged by Syracuse University for the duration of the program. SU Abroad's pre-arranged housing is located in the heart of the University district, the Bloomsbury neighborhood of London, and a short walk to our London Centre. Students will be required to pay a $400 security deposit. This security will be held to ensure against damage to the apartment. The deposit will be returned after the apartments are cleared and deemed undamaged by Acorn Management Group. Students who chose to arrange and pay for their own housing must notify SU Abroad in writing at time of application. The program fee will be reduced by $2,409 for these students.

Doc Mason's housing pros and cons: The University's pre-arranged housing is conveniently close to the SU London Centre. Walking distance to school is a big plus. Convenience comes at a price. The $2409 housing fee translates into a cost of over 200 Pounds per week per student. There are many pluses to the pre-arranged housing if it fits within your budget. Students report that the flats are quite well-equipped and comfortable and include wireless Internet access. Pre-arranged housing is simple and easy and is waiting for you when you arrive in London. Finding your own housing: In the past two summers, my students paid anywhere between 110 and 175 Pounds per week per person for housing they found on their own. The disadvan-tage? Student-arranged housing often requires a commute of 45 minutes in each direction. Also, to find your own housing, you'll need to arrive in London a couple days early and pay for a hotel room while you search. SU London will help with your search. Please contact Prof. Mason by e-mail if you'd like to further discuss the options.
